Hey All! I'm Hamzah Ahmed, and I'm a rising Sophomore here at Amherst College. I'm an International Student from Karachi, Pakistan, but I was born in Canada, grew up in Hong Kong and went to High School in Singapore so I guess you could say I've done a fair bit of moving around. I am still very much undecided on my major, but my main areas of interest are in the Humanities, especially Political Science, LJST (Law Jurisprudence and Social Thought) and Economics. Outside of the Classroom I am Social Chair of the International Students Association, an active member of the Yoga Club (something I picked up during my time here) and play Club Rugby. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far, and look forward to sharing my experiences here with all of you. Please do not hesitate to email me with any of your questions and concerns at

Hello! My name is Karen Blake and I am a second year student at Amherst. I am from Michigan, more specifically a suburb of Detroit aka Bloomfield Hills. I am currently undecided on my major, but I am leaning toward History, Sociology, or possibly both! I am a member of the Women’s Track and Field team, a first year Resident Counselor, and an elected class senator in the AAS. I am very interested in languages and currently am taking both Spanish and Arabic. I am looking forward to studying abroad during my junior year at Amherst. If you have any questions feel free to get in touch with me at!

Hi! My name is Liam Fine, and I’m a sophomore from Jupiter, FL. I am double majoring in Economics and Political Science, but have made use of Amherst’s open curriculum, having taken several Astronomy, Philosophy, and Math courses as well. Outside the classroom, I am a member of the Men’s Golf Team, serve as President of the Amherst Political Union, sit on the Executive Board of Amherst Hillel, and am an active member of the College’s Investment Club. This summer, I hope to intern in Washington DC at a Congressional Committee. If you have ANY questions about me, about Amherst generally, or more specifically about academics, athletics, or student life, please feel free to email me at

Hi! My name is Noël Grisanti and I am currently a second year at Amherst College. I grew up in New York City where I attended a small all-girls high school. I am a Classics major, with a particular passion for languages. In addition to being a tour guide, I am a Peer Advocate for Sexual Respect, which means I organize campus events and facilitate workshops surrounding the topics of consent, communications and healthy relationships. I am also a member of two singing groups on campus: Women's Chorus and The Sabrinas (the oldest all-female acapella group at Amherst). Feel free to shoot me an email with any questions at

Hi! My name is Terry Lee, and I am a sophomore from near Vancouver, Canada. I haven’t fully decided on what my majors will be, but I’ll likely pick one or two from French, Political Science, and Economics, though I intend to take advantage of our open curriculum and explore some totally out-of-the-box and wild classes over the course of my four years here. At Amherst, aside from being a tour guide, I love working for Education Professions, on the board of the Political Union and as the team coordinator for TEDxAmherstCollege. In my free time, I like to play tennis (on one of our million courts on campus), volleyball, and card games. Amherst is an amazing place - looking forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Hi! My name is Gabriella and I'm a Los Angeles California native. I'm a perspective Chemistry and Psychology double major. On campus, I work as a research assistant in the Child Learning and Development Lab, and I'm a member of the co-ed a cappella group DQ, Amherst Dance and Voices of the Class (a super fun show starring your applications essays that takes place during orientation!) Feel free to email me at with any questions or just to say hello, and I can't wait to see your faces on campus soon!

Hello, prospective students! I’m Siraj A. Sindhu, a second-year student at Amherst. I was born in Brooklyn but grew up in upstate NY. Here at Amherst, I’m double majoring in Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought (LJST) and English. I’m a Mellon Research Fellow in Political Science, I work as a staff person in the Women’s and Gender Center, I write for a student-run web publication called AC Voice (, and I serve as a Senator in the AAS (Amherst’s student government). In my spare time, I like to climb trees, write poetry, decorate my room in the Arts Theme House, do sartorial experiments, and play ultimate frisbee. Send an email to if you have any questions for me!

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Smith and I’m a sophomore here at Amherst. I am originally from Winchester, MA — a small town just outside of Boston — so Amherst is only a mere hour and 45-minute drive from my house. I am a Spanish and Sociology double major, and absolutely cannot wait to study abroad in Spain next year! Aside from academics and giving tours, I am a passionate performer in both The Sabrinas (one of our all-female a cappella groups) and Women’s Chorus (one of a few groups in the Amherst College Choral Society). And as if that wasn’t enough music, this year I’ve also started volunteering in one of our local elementary schools, helping out with 1st-3rd grade music classes. In addition, I have the pleasure of working as a research assistant in the LJST (Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought) department…one of the perks Amherst is that I’m able to do research in something that is totally separate from my majors. When I’m not doing any of those things, you will probably find me playing guitar, doing a crossword puzzle, or eating a massive box of M&M cookies from our beloved Sugar Jones. I’d love to talk to you about anything— Amherst-related or not! Email me at anytime!
