We look forward to welcoming you to campus!

Thank you for your interest in visiting Amherst College! We're delighted to be once again welcoming visitors to our beautiful campus and we look forward to having you with us.

There are two ways you may plan your visit:

  • Register for an official, scheduled visit. Visitors can register for a combination of a one-hour information session (presented by an admission dean) plus a one-hour tour (led by a student guide). As described below, current on-campus health and safety protocols will be followed.
  • Explore campus informally on your own. If you'll be visiting Amherst at a time when no official visits are scheduled, you are welcome to enjoy a walk through campus.

Please review the information below to ensure that you are familiar with the protocols that may be in place during your visit.

Health and Safety Protocols for Campus Visits

To ensure the comfort, health and safety of our visitors and our college community, a number of protocols have been instituted for on-campus visits. Please review the following information carefully, so that you will be prepared and able to fully enjoy your time with us. Separate information sections are provided below for official, scheduled visits and informal visits, so be sure to consult the section relevant to your intended visit.

Official, Scheduled Visits (Campus Tours and Information Sessions)

Pre-Arrival Arrangements
  • All visitors who wish to join an on-campus tour or information session must be registered in advance for one of our official on-campus visits.
  • To register, review the schedule of available on-campus visits; after making a selection, the appropriate registration form will be available for completion and submission.
  • Anyone experiencing symptoms that could be COVID-related (e.g., cold, flu, other respiratory illness) or who has been in recent close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID should not visit campus.
Arrival on Campus
  • Location: Official campus visits will begin at the Wilson Admission Center at 220 S Pleasant St, Amherst, MA 01002.
  • Check-In: All visitors registered to join a scheduled campus tour and/or information session must check in with our reception staff at the Wilson Admission Center. To avoid last-minute delays, we ask that you plan your travel and parking, so that you can arrive for check-in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start of your formal campus visit.
  • Parking: There are several parking spaces for registered visitors on the roadway directly in front of the Wilson Admission Center. Visitors may also park in the Orr Rink parking lot, only a short walk from the Admission Center. There is additional overflow parking available at the lot adjacent to Converse Hall, at the corner of College Ave (Rt. 9) and Boltwood Avenue.
  • Directions: Please consult the College website for driving directions, a full print campus map, an interactive online campus map, and other helpful information about visiting the campus and the town.
On-Campus Health and Safety Protocols
  • Anyone experiencing symptoms that could be COVID-related (e.g., cold, flu, other respiratory illness) or who has been in recent close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID should not visit campus.
  • Please review the current masking requirements on the College's COVID-19 webpage before arriving on campus.
  • Recognizing that vaccines are one of the most effective precautions we can take to return to an immersive living and learning model, Amherst College instituted a requirement that all faculty, staff and students be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before returning to campus for the fall 2021 semester. All community members were required to verify their booster shot no later than February 1, 2022, and to participate in our ongoing, mandatory COVID testing program.

Informal Visits

  • Those who have not preregistered for an official on-campus visit are welcome to explore campus grounds on their own. Some buildings may remain closed to the public.
