Call for Artists: Carl Schmalz Exhibit

Submitted by Thomas B. Hoffmann on Tuesday, 3/10/2009, at 3:33 PM

Tom Hoffmann '69 is putting together an exhibit celebrating Carl Schmalz's career as a painter and teacher. The show will focus primarily on Peofessor Emeritus Schmalz's watercolors, but to honor his dedication to teaching it will also feature the work of his students, and some of the paintings of his teacher, Eliot O'Hara.

If you  are a serious artist who feels a connection to the professor, and you would like to be considered for inclusion in the exhibit, please contact Tom, at

Ideally, the exhibit will include mostly watercolors, but if there are not enough of us out here who work in Carl Schmalz's favorite medium, the scope of the show will be expanded. The exhibit will be mounted in the Eli Marsh Gallery, in Fayerweather Hall. As yet no date has been chosen.
