Bessie Young ’11 and her work with local elderly residents were the subject of a glowing feature in the local newspaper. “Each year we have 50 students that we supervise,” Amherst Senior Center Director Nancy Pagano told a reporter with the Amherst Bulletin. “In my 38 years here I have never seen a student leader who, through her public service, has made such a varied and long-term significant difference to our elder and college community and endeared herself to so many.”
