Alumni Take Over the Silver Screen

Dead Man's Burden, directed by Jared Moshe '01, will open in theaters May 3; Lucky Bastard, co-written and produced by Robert Nathan '70 and Lukas Kendall '96, premiered at the beginning of April; and Automotive, written and directed by Tom Glynn '96, was just admitted to the 2013 Dances With Films festival in L.A.

Faculty Vote on Massive Open Online Course Provider Makes Headlines

At a meeting on April 16, Amherst professors decided by a margin of 70 to 41 (with five abstentions) that the college itself should develop and offer online classes and course material, rather than partner with an outside organization to do so. The news was covered by Inside Higher Ed, The Chronicle of Higher Education and Washington Post, among other media outlets.

2013 Watson Winners to "Give Voice to the Voiceless"

After graduating from Amherst in May, Lindsay Stern and Keri Lambert will embark on a year of adventures around the world, thanks to their fellowships. Stern plans to write about, and gather the writings of, children in South Asia, South Africa and Central America, while Lambert will visit and blog about the experiences of farmers, fishermen and factory workers in Africa and Asia.
