The women’s ice hockey program picked up its first ever national title March 21 in an exhilarating overtime victory against Elmira College, while baseball coach Bill Thurston became the 12th coach in Division III history to record 800 career wins, as the Lord Jeffs earned a 15-8 victory over Bowdoin College in game two of a doubleheader March 19. As head coach of the Amherst baseball program since 1966, Thurston is the winningest coach in any sport in the college’s history.
