The board of trustees for the American University of Beirut (AUB) unanimously voted March 21 to elect Peter Dorman ’70, professor of Egyptology at the Oriental Institute and in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago, the institution’s 15th president. Dorman follows in the footsteps of great-great-grandfather Daniel Bliss 1852, who founded the university and served as its president, and great-great-uncle Howard Bliss 1882, who also helmed AUB.
