Dwight Goldthorpe ’41, longtime resident of Palm Beach, Fla., who died last year, has left the college $23 million to improve campus. The bequest, which represents two-thirds of Goldthorpe’s residuary estate, is the single largest in Amherst’s history and was featured in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, The Springfield Republican, The Chronicle of Philanthropy and on various regional television news broadcasts.
