Physics Professor Awarded $469K to Study Super-Cold Gases

David S. Hall ’91 will use the National Science Foundation funding to investigate gases he and his students cool to a billionth of a degree above absolute zero—the lowest possible temperature in the universe—in an atom refrigerator they built in his Merrill Science Center lab.
