In Maria's Aftermath, Amherst Will Welcome Visiting Students

Residents of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands continue to experience the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria, including interruptions to their studies. As one way to help, Amherst will enroll, for the Spring 2018 semester, a limited number of college students from those islands and will cover their educational expenses, as well as spring tuition at their home institutions.

Visiting Professor Wins National Book Award

Masha Gessen, the John J. McCloy ’16 Professor of American Institutions and International Diplomacy, won the nonfiction prize this week for The Future is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia.
