This event has been organized to feature three Amherst College professors who are visiting China to participate in the Liberal Arts Initiative Summer School (LAISS). LAISS is a non-profit program run by Amherst College students and taught by professors from Amherst College. LAISS offers a variety of liberal arts classes on multiple disciplines to Chinese students who are interested in liberal arts education in the U.S. Faculty for 2016 includes Kristin Bumiller, George Daniel Olds Professor in Economic and Social Institutions (political science) and Chair of Political Science; C. Rhonda Cobham-Sander, Emily C. Jordan Folger Professor of Black Studies and English; and Trent Maxey, Associate Professor of Asian Languages and Civilizations and History. Xiaofeng Wan, Assistant Dean of Admission & Coordinator of International Recruitment will also be in attendance.
