Join Amherst College President Biddy Martin and the Emily Dickinson Museum to celebrate the accomplishment of the most ambitious exhibition on Dickinson to date - I'm Nobody! Who are you? The Life and Poetry of Emily Dickinson. Drawn from material in the Amherst College archives and Emily Dickinson Museum, and curated by Mike Kelly, Head of Archives and Special Collections at Amherst in collaboration with Carolyn Vega, Assistant Curator at the Morgan Library & Museum, the exhibit brings together nearly one hundred rarely seen items including manuscripts and letters. The exhibit explores a side of her life that is seldom acknowledged: one filled with rich friendships and long-lasting relationships with mentors and editors. In addition to her writings, the show also features an array of visual material that speaks to the rich intellectual and cultural environment in which Dickinson lived and worked.

4:00 p.m. - Newly added - In response to the overwhelming interest in this event, we have added a self-guided gallery tour option. This is limited to 80 people and there is space available.

5:00 p.m. - 'To the eye prospective led': Encountering Emily Dickinson in Amherst presented by Karen Sanchez-Eppler, L. Stanton Williams 1941 Professor of American Studies and English and Chair of the English Department.

6:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Reception and tours of I'm Nobody! Who are you? The Life and Poetry of Emily Dickinson led by the curators. Each tour is limited to 30 people and all guided tours are at capacity.

Read more about an object in the exhibition which is an invitation Dickinson received from an Amherst student and the "Valentine Eve" piece Dickinson likely sent to the same individual, published in February 1850 in The Indicator.
