A surprisingly short drive from the city, we'll hike the Appalachian Trail from Greenbrier State Park to the Washington Monument (the original Washington monument is in Maryland, pictured above).

Rides from DC will be provided (carpooling encouraged): We will try to have several cars leaving from metro stops or central locations. If you would like a ride, or can offer a ride, please email wpgeffert@gmail.com.

Pack a snack or light lunch (optional): The Washington Monument is our turn-around point at the park, and we'll plan to stop there for a snack break.

Directions: From the East: Take I-70 west to exit 42. Bear right onto Rt. 17 north (follow signs). Go into the center of Myersville and Rt. 17 will turn right. Follow Rt. 17 to the flashing lights at the intersection of Rt. 40. Turn left onto Rt. 40 west. Follow for three miles and the park is on the left.
