JFK: The Last Speech explores the dramatic relationship between two seminal Americans—President John F. Kennedy and the poet Robert Frost—which reached its tragic climax in a surprising encounter with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev at the height of the Cold War. Born out of these events is Kennedy’s remarkable speech at Amherst, called “the most majestic” of his career. Speaking about poetry and power, and the obligation to serve the public interest, Kennedy altered the life course of a group of Amherst College classmates who witnessed this compelling address and who exemplify today a portrait of the challenges facing America.

JFK: The Last Speech, commissioned by members of the Amherst College Class of 1964 with support from Amherst College and the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, will be aired on select public television stations (check local listings) beginning in June.

Please note that the screening begins promptly at 4:00 p.m. The screening is followed at 5:15 p.m. by a conversation with the filmmaker and historians who appear in the film. A light reception with cash bar follows at 6:00 p.m. Attendees at the event will enjoy complimentary access to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum exhibits any time prior to the 4:00 p.m. screening.
