Please join Rick A. López ’93 (Professor of History and Environmental Studies, Dean of New Students, and Chair of Latinx and Latin American Studies) to learn why wine is an ideal subject of study for the liberal arts. Together with Professor Ana Martini (Geology) Professor López teaches a multi-disciplinary research seminar entitled “Wine, History and the Environment” that brings together humanities and science disciplines to focus on student-driven inquiry. He will discuss how the course came about, some of the historical and scientific questions that frame the study of wine, what he has learned from his experience teaching the course, and present some snapshots of student projects completed during the course.
