Day of Service with the Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW)

Saturday, October 2, 2010
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meet at
The Valley Green Inn
Valley Green Road at Wissahickon
Philadelphia, PA 19128

Registration closed, event at capacity.

The Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) is the oldest and largest of the nonprofit, volunteer groups active in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park system. For over eighty-five years the FOW has acted as a steward of Wissahickon Valley Park, the beautiful northern stretch of Fairmount Park, by maintaining and preserving trails and historic structures, caring for native plant and animal species, and protecting the watershed.
On October 2, the Amherst Association of Philadelphia invites you to join a day of service in Fairmount Park.  The Amherst team will meet in front of The Valley Green Inn and work along the trail to Devil's Pool near Valley Green cleaning up, removing graffiti and watering plants.  No specific skills are needed.  Just bring your enthusiasm and interest, and the FOW will provide you with leadership, tools and instruction.

Children are welcome as well--this is a great chance to involve your kids in your volunteer work and to get the whole family outdoors for a few hours!

Learn more at the FOW website or contact Melissa Kim '97 at or by calling 267-679-6306 with any questions.

We look forward to caring for one of Philadelphia's greatest resources with you!
