Amherst College trustee and  author of seven best-selling novels that have been translated into over 20 languages, sold more than 25 million copies worldwide, and been adapted for film and television. His books have garnered widespread acclaim, earning the Silver Dagger Award of the British Crime Writers, the Heartland Prize, and the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award, among others. Turow is also a practicing attorney, devoting most of his time to pro bono cases and he served as assistant U.S. attorney from 1978 to 1986. Time magazine, which featured Turow on the June 1990 cover, dubbed him the "Bard of the Litigious Age."
