Tim and his staff provided support for the 2011 Middlebury Solar Decathlon team which won 4th place overall, placing first in 3 of the 10 categories. With Middlebury's election to compete in the 2013 competition, they will oversee that effort as well. He received his B.A. from Yale University and did his graduate work at Harvard University in the History of American Civilization. He has taught a wide range of classes in American Studies and American literature. He is the author of 100 Years on the Road: The Traveling Salesman in American Culture (1995), and Chicago Dreaming: Midwesterners and the City, 1871 to 1919 (2005).
