Over the past year leading up to the recent elections, many pundits and politicians framed the contest as a crossroads for our nation-- a clear choice between two different paths for America. Six billion dollars and one election later, the United States is left with a status-quo government and a fresh set of challenging questions: What is the future of the Republican Party? Can our republic survive a two-party system? How can our leaders put politics aside and create an environment in Washington, D.C., that allows for bipartisanship and practical solutions to the serious issues we face?

Steele is former chairman of the Republican National Committee, and former lieutenant governor of Maryland. Under Steele's leadership, the RNC broke fundraising records, and Republicans won 63 House seats, the biggest pickup since 1938. Steele made history in 2003 when he was elected lieutenant governor of Maryland, becoming the first African American elected to statewide office in the state. Steele is a political analyst on MSNBC and a contributor to Fox News. Steele writes a regular column for TheRoot.com and Bet.com, and his writings on law, business and politics have appeared in "The Wall Street Journal," "The Washington Times" and Politico.com.
