Unlikely Allies is the true story of how in 1776 a French comic playwright, Beaumarchais, a Connecticut shopkeeper, Silas Deane, and a cross-dressing spy saved the American Revolution. It is a rollicking, jaw-dropping, wildly improbable story of diplomats and revolutionaries, sexual intrigue, espionage, and murder.
