Visiting professor Andrew Bacevich, a retired U.S. army colonel, and Max Boot, senior fellow for the Council on Foreign Relations, debated each other on the direction of post-9/11 U.S. national security policy for the inaugural event of the Amherst Political Union.

Commager Portrait Unveiling

Amherst College President Tony Marx unveils a portrait of Professor Henry Steele Commager, 20th century historian, public intellectual, and engaged citizen. It was painted by Robert Sweeney, the William R. Mead Professor of Art at Amherst College, and is a 50th Reunion gift of the Class of 1962.

Voices of the Gay Amherst Class

A series of vignettes based on the experiences of LGBTQIA students and recent alumni at Amherst. This is one of a series of events planned throughout the year in recognition of the founding, 25 years ago, of GALA, the Gay and Lesbian Alumni organization. Presented by the Pride Alliance and Alumni and Parent Programs at Homecoming 2010.

Pamela L. Stawasz, Area Coordinator of LGBTQIA Education and Assistant Director of Residential Life, introduces the event with a history of the Pride Alliance. The performances begin at 05:20.
