Davis represented Virginia's 11th District from 1994 to 2008, including four years as Chairman of the House Government Reform Committee. Mr. Johnson served as Parliamentarian from 1994 to 2004 and has more than forty years of congressional experience as Assistant Parliamentarian, Deputy Parliamentarian, Parliamentarian and Consultant to the Parliamentarian. Join us for an inside view of U.S. congressional political workings, followed by a Q & A with the speakers. Current developments in Congress will be discussed and placed in historical context. Thomas Davis '71 was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for the 11th Congressional District in 1994. He chaired the National Republican Congressional Committee from 1998 to 2002 and was named chairman of the House Government Reform Committee in 2003. Since completing seven successful terms in 2008, Rep. Davis has taught at George Mason University and serves as Director of Federal Government Relations at Deloitte, LLP and as president and CEO of the Republican Main Street Partnership.
Charles W. Johnson '60 is a Consultant to the Parliamentarian of the U.S. House of Representatives (2004 to Present). He has served as Assistant Parliamentarian to the U.S. House of Representatives 1964-1974, Deputy Parliamentarian 1975-1994, and Parliamentarian 1994-2004. He lectures frequently at colleges and law schools, serves as editor of Precedents of the U.S. House of Representatives and is the co-author of Parliament and Congress: Representation and Scrutiny in the Twenty-First Century.
