These events have been organized to feature three Amherst College professors who are visiting China to participate in the Liberal Arts Initiative Summer School (LAISS). LAISS is a non-profit program run by Amherst College students and taught by professors from Amherst College. LAISS offers a variety of liberal arts classes on multiple disciplines to Chinese students who are interested in liberal arts education in the U.S. Faculty for 2015 includes Amrita Basu, Domenic J. Paino 1955 Professor of Political Science and Sexuality, Women's and Gender Studies; Lawrence Douglas, James J. Grosfeld Professor of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought, Department of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought; and Christian Rogowski, G. Armour Craig Professor in Language and Literature In the Department of German.
