Getting to Amherst
Please see the college's Public Transportation page for information about getting to Amherst by air, bus or train (including information about shuttle and limousine services). If traveling by car, see our Driving Directions. Please see our ride board to get connected with other alums for carpooling.
Parking permits are required during Reunion. You will receive a hang tag for your car when you check in at Alumni House. This tag will allow you to park in designated areas on the main campus.
Please be aware that absolutely no parking will be permitted on the grass in the Main Quadrangle and that parking on the street of the Main Quadrangle is available only for people with mobility impairments. Regular shuttle service will be provided between parking lots and the Main Quad (overnight service will be available on an on-call basis for those arriving when Alumni House is closed). Ten-minute pick-up and drop-off zones will be available in front of each dorm on the Main Quad, with student workers to help carry luggage to rooms. Click here to see a map of the shuttle route.
All handicapped-parking placards, or photocopies, will be honored by the Amherst College Campus Police. The Campus Police cannot issue handicapped-parking placards.
Please park in designated areas only, and observe “No Parking” signs. Cars blocking traffic will be towed.
The Town of Amherst has designated weekday Permit Parking Only areas in the campus vicinity. Your on-campus parking pass allows you to park in any designated parking space on campus and on Seelye, Spring and Churchill Streets on weekdays. It permits you to park on all other Permit Parking Only areas on the weekend only. Your pass does not apply to any metered or pay box parking space in Amherst.
A shuttle van will be available to transport guests with special needs around the Amherst campus. Call Alumni House at (413) 542-2065 during Alumni Holiday/Reunion to make arrangements for pickup and drop-off. PLEASE NOTE: While there is a shuttle service provided between outlying parking lots and the Main Quad, the college cannot provide shuttle service for guests between programs, with the exception of those guests with special needs.
