The book explores the intersection of  accelerating advances in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and our
ability to genetically re-engineer ourselves with disconcerting social trends.  The book uses a tried and true plot of a large object rushing towards Earth; with a twist.  It turns out there's another civilization in our solar system located on an artificial planet that comes close to Earth every 3600 years when the inhabitants look in on us for Earth is a penal colony to which the inferior and unreliable of their society have been exiled.  You see, we're right handed and they're left handed...  And, their planet is approaching as the object closes in forcing the two societies to cooperate in preventing their mutual destruction.  A complementary copy of the book provided upon request.
