Friends Groups provide specialized opportunities for individuals to support and participate in specific aspects of the life of the College.
Friends of Athletics
The Friends of Athletics sponsors alumni games each year in several sports followed by a picnic and the opportunity to meet with undergraduates. The Friends meet twice a year at Amherst. The Friends also provide financial support for special projects such as additional equipment for the Wolff Fitness Center and exercise rooms.

Friends of the Library
The Amherst College Library is open to all alumni and they are encouraged to visit whenever they are at the College. There are ever changing exhibits to be enjoyed, especially in Archives and Special Collections. There is a poetry corner on the main floor with a poem which changes daily. The Periodicals Reading Room offers an extensive collection of newspapers and magazines.
There are several ways in which alumni can participate in the work of the Library.
• Archives and Special Collections is happy to receive Amherst related materials.
• Care and Preserve – is a program that seeks to repair and conserve rare items in order to extend their use. The Library circulates a list of these items yearly and alumni can volunteer to underwrite one or more of them.
• The Librarian would be pleased to consider gifts of books or collections.
• Alumni can join The Friends of the Amherst College Library. This is an organization that actively supports the Library, stays informed about its work and participates in its development.

Friends of Music
The Friends of Music produces a newsletter for members twice a year that shares news of faculty and students in the Music Department, and includes a listing of each semester’s concerts. Friends from near and far are frequently seen in the audience at Buckley concerts. Contributions from the Friends support student and faculty performances and activities, such as travel to off-campus events that would otherwise not be possible.
