Maya Foster '23 is a sophomore from Oakland, California, currently studying Psychology and Spanish at Amherst. When she's not studying, she is usually working one of her two jobs (she is also Student Museum Educator for the Mead Art Museum), dancing with DASAC, leading or attending a BSU meeting, or hanging out with friends. She is so excited to continue the pursuit of a diverse and equitable campus through the meaningful work this office is doing. She loves being an Amherst student, and can't wait to help make it the best institution it can be.

Assitant Director

Andrew Leung '22 is a third-year Political Science major from Brooklyn, New York. Amherst is one of Andrew's favorite places to be in, not just because of the interesting classes or the beautiful nature, but because of the people that comprise it. With peers and professors from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, the community at Amherst has helped him to see the world in a totally different light. Especially in these divisive times, both geographically and otherwise, it’s more important than ever to play an active part in cultivating a more inclusive community. Although many of us aren't on campus this Spring, Andrew wants to make sure our community comes back closer and stronger than ever before!

Joelle Crichlow '22  is a Junior from Upper Montclair, New Jersey. She is double majoring in Sociology and Black Studies. Outside of schoolwork she is currently serving as the Senior Chair of the Black Student Union and works as a Peer Advocate for Sexual Respect under the Department of Health Education. She loves the fact that Amherst has so many opportunities for both personal and community development through the open curriculum and different student leadership roles across all areas of campus. Every student that she has encountered has been able to fully invest themselves in a club or activity that truly aligns with their interest, making Amherst an incredibly dynamic and unique campus! She can't wait to continue her work with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and see how we can only continue to improve the Amherst experience for everyone.
