    • C3 offers new ways of connecting undergraduate students at liberal arts colleges, particularly those who are under-represented, with graduate opportunities at major research universities.

  • Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students
    • ABRCMS is a conference for underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students attend this conference to present their research, enhance professional development skills, explore graduate schools, and network.
    • Held annually in November
  • National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC)
    • Platform for undergraduate student researchers to share their work and research experiences. A conference devoted to promoting an interdisciplinary research community and undergraduate research.

Summer Opportunities

  • Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research (SIP)
    • Summer programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide an opportunity to spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research.
    • Deadline for application: March 1st, 2020.
  • NIH Postbaccalureate Intramural Research Training Award (POSTBACK IRTA/CRTA)
    • Provides recent college graduates who are planning to apply to graduate or professional (medical/dental/pharmacy/nursing/veterinary, etc.) school an opportunity to spend one or two years performing full-time research at the NIH.
    • Rolling admissions. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply three to six months before they wish to begin their training at the NIH.
  • Mellon Mays Writing and Research Training Program
    • Fellows participate in a rigorous scholarly writing and research course (receiving UCLA course credit), individual and group mentoring sessions, workshops, events, and a final research colloquium.
