Mary Elizabeth Cisneros Mary Elizabeth Cisneros ’89
was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2018. She is vice president and deputy general counsel of the American Red Cross.

Based in the organization’s Washington, D.C., headquarters, she joined the Red Cross in 2001 as senior counsel for labor and employment. She was previously an associate at Epstein, Becker and Green. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University.

A cum laude graduate of Amherst, Cisneros majored in American studies and was a co-captain of the women’s soccer, squash and lacrosse teams. Her honors thesis was titled, Mrs. Smith Tries to Go to Washington: The Impediments Hindering Women’s Access to the United States Congress. An active alumna, she has served as associate class agent and has provided career advice to students. 

Cisneros is a board member of Girls on the Run in Montgomery County, Md., and former board co-chair of the Interfaith Families Project of Washington, D.C.

She and her husband, Michael Rosenman, have three children.
