1939-42: Legal club with Lawrence & O'Brien, Rutland, Vt. Town Grand Juror (a sort of junior district attorney). Scoutmaster in Proctor

1942-45: Private to 1st Lt., Army Air Corps

1946-49: Yale Graduate School, Geology. M.S., 1947

1950-1951: Instructor in Geology, Kansas University

1951-54: Asst. Professor of Geology, Amherst College

1955-59: Writing, Proctor, Vt.

1960: Elected Town Representative; also District committee, Green Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America

1961-62: Vermont General Assembly

1963-69: Vermont Legislature; Trustee, University of Vermont (Chairman 1968-69)

1969- : Vermont Senat; coordinator, canoe-camping program for teenagers; president, Green Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America.

1971: International Boy Scouts Jamboree, Mt. Fuji, Japan

1984- : International committee, National Board, Boy Scouts of America

Other activities: Chairman of various committees, Union Church of Proctor; director or trustee, American Red Cross (Rutland County Chapter), Proctor Free Public Library (President 1965-80) , Proctor Historical Society, Rutland Historical Society (Pres. / Treas.), Rutland Hospital, Vermont Historical Society, Vermont State Library Board .
