Carl Rieser '39

Carl Rieser died on August 9, 2006.  He is survived by five sons: Charles A., Andrew C., Christopher M., Nicholas C., and Timothy J.  His first wife, Edith, and one son, Matthew, predeceased him.  He was divorced in 1963 by his second wife, Barbara.

After college, Carl started his career as a writer, but WWII caught up with him, and he became an ambulance driver for the Allied forces from 1942 until 1946.  He was a life member of the Eighth Army Veteran’s Association.

Carl was an outstanding author and editor, as evidenced by his position as editor of “Money and Real Estate” and the “Banking Law Report.”  He authored several publications including Are You an Enabler?, Servants of the Dream, The Trusted Corporation, and In Search of Leadership.

Carl was a staunch friend of the College and was a Johnson Chapel Associate and a contributor to the Pooled Income Fund.  He also served the Class of ’39 as a former secretary.
