In Memory

October 14, 2006, marked the death of Jack Maloney, a classmate of ours, and a member of Phi Gamma Delta.  His father, Class of 1903, and several additional members of his family were Amherst alumni.  We send the family our condolences on their loss, shared by the Class.

Graduating from Amherst in 1941, as a major in mathematics, Jack always considered himself a member of ’40, most recently attending the 50th Reunion.

He served in the army in WWII, and in 1948, received his law degree from St. Johns University in New York.

Jack and his family were able to live in many parts of the USA as his practice of law and his work in real estate called him from place to place; finally, the Maloneys settled in the community of Surprise, AZ.

Jack was active in many community and service organizations, including Amherst’s Alumni Fund, of which he was an associate agent.

Jack is survived by his wife, Bette, and by their son, John S. Maloney.
