In Memory

Peter E. Grannis, Class of 1940, died on Sept. 29, 2008. He appears, from obituary material available, to have been recognized as an active member of the communities in which he lived, Bloomfield, Conn.; Georgetown, S.C.; and Burlington, Vt. A vital man and one of many skills, not only did he serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII, he circumnavigated the world twice.  He also attended MIT.  Professionally, Peter was comptroller of the Stanadyne, Inc. of Windsor, Conn.

He was known to few at Amherst as he attended the College only during 1936-38 before enrolling at MIT.  He is to be remembered for his great sense of humor and optimism and by his large family: five children, 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
