On March 7, 2010, Daniel L Moore, 90, of Oakmont, Pa., died at Willows Presbyterian Senior Care of Oakmont. Dear husband of 60 years of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Klemstine) Moore. Father of Danny Moore, Barbara (Craig) Biddle, Betsy (Carl) Mauro, David (Marty) Moore, Richard (Mary) Moore, Joe Moore and the late Tommy Moore. Brother of the late Ralph Moore. Grandfather of Rachel and Hannah Moore, Bryce and Brenna Mauro.

Dan graduated from Amherst College with a degree in English. He was a proud WWII veteran serving on the staff of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force under General Eisenhower. In addition to receiving the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medals, he was awarded the Belgium Croix de Guerre for enabling the coal mines to be operational during the winter of 1944, restoring heat to Belgium. Dan spent his career in the coal industry, retiring as vice president of Consolidation Coal Company.

An avid golfer, he was a life member of Oakmont Country Club, serving as president for two terms from 1965-69. He was a longtime member of the Duquesne Club and Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey. Dan was a member of the Oakmont Planning Commission from 1968-97, serving as president for many of those years.
