Tilford D. Miller '44
Tilford D. Miller was born in New York City in 1921 and graduated from Deerfield Academy and Amherst, where he was a member of Alpha Delta Phi.
He served in WWII as a navigation officer, involved in five different invasions.
He spent two years at Cornell Medical School, returned to Amherst for an MA in Biology, and then graduated from the Univ. of Massachusetts with a PhD in food technology.
In 1950, he married Helen Nivesan, who predeceased him. In 1955, he worked for the American Car Company, and later for a scientific journal doing chemical abstracts. He had a lifelong interest in classical music, photography, and gardens.
His survivors include a daughter, two grandsons, two great-grandchildren, and a sister.
Memorial services were held for Tilford on July 12 in Haddonfield, NJ.
