Robert C. Partenheimer, M.D. '45

Bob Partenheimer died on February 10, 2007, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, FL, two days before his eighty-fourth birthday.

He was born in Springfield, MA, and attended Deerfield Academy before entering Amherst in the fall of 1941.  Two years later, he left Amherst to attend Cornell Medical College and received his MD degree in 1947.

For several years, he served in a number of capacities, including medical duty as a lieutenant-commander on a Coast Guard seaplane tender, the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD, and a private practice in Summit, NJ.

In 1971, Bob left private practice to specialize in emergency medicine.  In that capacity, he served as director of emergency services in Perth Amboy and Boonton, NJ, and Cape Coral, FL.  He was elected a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Bob’s hobbies included salt water fishing, downhill skiing, golf and power boating.  He is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Barbara Haislip; two sons, Robert H. and Richard C.; and five grandchildren.
