Family: Married Donna Davis, June 14, 1952
Children: Lucinda Garrison Ballenger; Melissa Jane Ballenger Jordan; and Dorothy Davis Ballenger Weaver.
Two grandsons.

Public Service: Elected to special term 99th Congress, November, 1986, and to full two-year term, 100th
Congress, plus all succeeding Congresses.
Served in NC House (1974-1976) and Senate, (1976-1986), as well as other county and federal offices. Member of a number of influential House committees.

Honors: Many citations from business and government organizations for leadership and community service such as the National Association of Manufacturers, and the American Furniture Manufacturers Association.

Civic Activities: Day Care Center Founder; United Fund Chairman; Director, Chamber of Commerce; BOD, Episcopal High School, and many charitable and arts organizations.
