Charles A. Barker died on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.  He was seventy nine.

The son of the late Anson Barker and Millicent V. Ringsdorf Barker, he was born February 25, 1928, in Trenton, NJ.  He was married to Sigrid M. Meisse Barker for fifty-five years.

Charles was a self-employed attorney in Central Valley, NY.  He attended Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA; Amherst College in Amherst, MA, graduating with the Class of 1950; and from Columbia Univ. Law School in New York City.

He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War.  He was a past master of Cornerstone Lodge F & AM; a member of American Legion Post 779 in Woodbury; past president of Monroe-Woodbury Rotary and the Orange County Bar Association; a member of the board of trustees for Cemetery of The Highlands in Highland Mills; a member of the Woodbury Community Association; a member of the Central Valley Fire Company for forty years; captain of the Town of Woodbury Fire Police; a Boy Scout leader and member of the Woodbury Lions Club; a member of the Help Line of Orange County; a lay reader and warden at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Highland Mills and member and lay reader at St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo; and a bag piper for McClouds of Cornwall.

While at Amherst, Chas was a member of Theta Xi fraternity and was on the sailing team.

Survivors include his wife, Sigrid M. (Sigi) Barker of Central Valley; son, Louis A. Barker of Chichester, NH; daughters, Anne S. Barker-McCoy of Pomfret, CT, and Abby S. Barker-Hodge of Harrisburg, NC; brother, James R. Barker ’51, of Warren, RI; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Chas wrote a great letter for our 50th Reunion book letter, with a good photo of himself, which I commend you all to look up for more insight into his life.
