This conversation (which is edited and condensed) took place in the athletic director’s office on June 13, 2012, exactly 10 days before Title IX turned 40.

Michelle Morgan is entering her 35th season as an Amherst coach and her 23rd at the helm of the women’s golf team.

Suzanne Coffey has been athletic director at Amherst since 2006. She was one of the first women to receive an athletic scholarship to a U.S. college.

Katie Fretwell ’81 is Amherst’s director of admission. She was among the first women to play sports for Amherst.  

Kristen Spargo ’95 was on the varsity soccer team and is now director of advancement communications at Amherst.  

Stephanie Clegg ’12 was on the ice hockey team when it won back-to-back NCAA championships. She also played field hockey and softball at Amherst and is now the college’s Hitchcock Fellow in the athletics department and an assistant coach on the field hockey and women’s ice hockey staffs.
