The Honorable Elizabeth Warren
317 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Warren,
As a member of the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, a coalition of more than 200 university and college presidents and chancellors, I am writing to follow up on our letter calling on Congress to pass a Dreamer solution immediately, and before January 19th. The time to act is now. As we said in our letter, a solution for Dreamers is urgent and essential and should not be encumbered by broader immigration issues:
"Today we call on you to pass bipartisan legislation that provides a narrowly tailored solution to address the urgent problem created by the rescission of DACA. Changes to immigration laws that more properly belong in a comprehensive immigration reform measure deserve more thoughtful deliberation, consideration and negotiation than are feasible in the rapidly closing window of time available to address this problem."
About the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration Reform: The more than 200 American college and university leaders who have joined the Presidents' Alliance are dedicated to increasing public understanding of how immigration policies and practices impact our students, campuses and communities. We support policies that create a welcoming environment for immigrant, undocumented, and international students on our campuses.
