LITERARY PUBLISHING INTERNSHIPS
The Common offers several internships for Amherst College students during the school year, during Interterm, and over the summer. Interns critically evaluate submissions; write, edit, and proofread prose and poetry; create multimedia web features; write and design publicity materials; develop, organize, and staff innovative events on campus and across the country; and research magazine production and distribution.
More than 40 Amherst students have participated in The Common's Literary Publishing Internship Program since the award-winning magazine launched in 2011. Former interns have gone on to publish novels, win Watson Fellowships, study English literature at highly competitive graduate programs, and work at nonprofit organizations and literary publishers around the world.
The Common Literary Publishing Internships are also available through the Amherst Select Internship Program (ASIP), run by the Career Center. To participate in this program, click here.
