Vladeck Adds To Postseason Awards, Snags NEIBA All-New England Honors
May 22 - Amherst College senior Joe Vladeck added to his list of postseason awards on Monday morning, snagging First-Team New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England honors for the second consecutive season. Full Story

Amherst's Vladeck Repeats as NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Year, Set to Play in 2006 NEIBA All-Star Game
May 17 - Amherst senior Joe Vladeck was named the NESCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-NESCAC for the second straight season on Wednesday morning. He was also selected to participate in the 2006 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Senior All-Star game, to be played Sunday, May 28, at Fenway Park. Fellow senior Andrew Green and junior Nick Kehoe joined Vladeck on the all-conference squad, receiving second-team plaudits. Full Story

Amherst's Green & Vladeck Named ESPN The Magazine Baseball Academic All-District
May 11 - Amherst seniors Andrew Green and Joe Vladeck were both named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 baseball team by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. Green received first-team honors and proceeds to the Academic All-America ballot, while Vladeck was a second-team pick. Full Story

Jeffs Close Out Regular Season with Doubleheader Sweep at Bentley, 3-2 & 7-1
May 6 - The Amherst baseball team concluded its regular-season slate with a pair of victories at Division II foe Bentley College on Saturday, earning a narrow 3-2 win in the opener and taking the nightcap, 7-1. Senior Dave Levinson paced the offense with four RBI on the day, while classmate Joe Vladeck and junior Nick Kehoe picked up respective wins on the mound as the Jeffs improved to 22-9-1. Full Story

Kehoe Guides Jeffs Past Keene State, 4-0
April 30 - Junior Nick Kehoe tossed a complete-game, two-hitter on Sunday afternoon to improve to 5-2 on the year and guide the Amherst baseball team to a 4-0 non-conference victory over visiting Keene State College. The Jeffs avenged their previous loss to the Owls this season and improved to 20-9-1 overall, while Keene St. dropped to 26-12. Full Story

Baseball Takes Twinbill from Trinity

April 29 - The Amherst baseball team took a non-conference twinbill from visiting NESCAC East Division foe Trinity College on Saturday afternoon, winning game one 3-1 and topping the Bantams 10-4 in game two. Full Story

Jeffs Sneak Past Brandeis, 5-4
April 25 - The Amherst baseball team earned a narrow 5-4 non-conference victory at Brandeis University on Tuesday evening on the strength of sophomore Chris Edgar’s third victory of the year and senior Rob Anderson’s NESCAC-best fifth save of the season. The Jeffs improved to 17-9-1, while Brandeis dropped to 17-12-1. Full Story

Jeffs Split Doubleheader at Middlebury
April 22 - The Amherst College baseball team split a NESCAC West Division doubleheader at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 6-2 decision in the first bout before earning a 4-1 victory in the nightcap. Amherst moves to 16-9-1 overall and wraps up its conference slate at 8-3-1, while Middlebury moved to 16-7 (5-3 NESCAC West). Full Story

April 21 - Senior hurler Joe Vladeck pushed his record to a flawless 5-0 on Friday afternoon with his third complete game of the season to lead the Amherst baseball team to a 5-2 victory at NESCAC West Division rival Middlebury College . The Jeffs improved to 15-8-1 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play, while the Panthers fell to 15-6 (4-2 NESCAC West). Full Story

April 15 - The Amherst baseball team dropped a close 4-3 decision to archrival Williams in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, and followed up with a 8-0 loss in the second. Full Story

Jeffs Outlast Williams, 5-3
April 14 - Sophomore Neal Allar hit a two-run home-run in the 11th inning to break a 3-3 tie and lead the Amherst baseball team over archrival Williams College, 5-3, on Friday afternoon. Full Story

Jeffs Tripped Up at Keene State, 8-3
April 12 - The Amherst baseball team saw a 12-game unbeaten streak fall by the wayside as the Jeffs dropped an 8-3 decision at non-conference rival Keene State College. Amherst fell to 13-5-1 with the loss. Full Story

Jeffs Complete Weekend Sweep, Take Pair From Hamilton
April 9 - The Amherst baseball team used a pair of dominating pitching performances to sweep an afternoon doubleheader over visiting NESCAC West opponent Hamilton College. The Jeffs took game one, 1-0, and rolled in game two, 10-2, improving to 13-4-1 on the season (5-0-1 NESCAC West) while the Continentals dropped to 5-13 overall (0-3 NESCAC West). Full Story

April 8 - The Amherst baseball team used a six-run sixth inning to fuel a 7-4 come- from-behind victory over visiting NESCAC West opponent Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon. Amherst's Powers Named NESCAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week
April 3 - Amherst rookie third baseman Brendan Powers was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week on Monday after erupting for 12 RBI and his first two collegiate homers in a 3-0-1 week for the Jeffs. Full Story

Jeffs Top Wesleyan in Game 1, Tie Cardinals in 11 in Game 2
April 1 - The Amherst baseball team won its ninth straight game to open a NESCAC West doubleheader at Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Saturday, 8-3, but the two squads battled to a 3-3 tie after 11 innings before Game Two was called to darkness. The Jeffs moved to 10-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in divisional play, while Wesleyan dropped to 6-8-1 (0-2-1 NESCAC West). Full Story

March 31 - The Amherst baseball team won its NESCAC-opener and seventh straight game, walloping visiting conference and Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Friday, 24-3. March 30 - The Amherst baseball team hammered visiting non-conference foe Westfield State College in the Jeffs' home-opener on Thursday. Rookie Brendan Powers led the Amherst onslaught, going 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBI as the Jeffs won their sixth straight and improved to 8-4, while Westfield St. dropped to 7-8. Full Story

March 26 - The Amherst baseball team wrapped up its spring break session in Ft. Myers, Fla. on Sunday, posting its fifth straight victory, a 5-2 decision over Colby College. The Jeffs improved to 7-4 on the season, while Colby dropped its season opener. Full Story

Jeffs Win Four Straight in Ft. Myers, Fla.
March 25 - The Amherst baseball team posted four straight wins on its spring break trip in Ft. Myers, Fla., taking a 10-5 decision from Bethel University, sweeping a doubleheader against Fredonia St. and blanking St. Lawrence, 3-0. With the run the Jeffs improved to 6-4 on the season. Full Story

March 22 - The Amherst baseball team suffered its fourth narrow loss of the early season on Wednesday, a 10-9 decision to non-conference foe Babson College in Ft. Myers, Fla. Full Story

Jeffs Split Doubleheader with No. 15 Otterbein
March 21 - The Amherst baseball team split a doubleheader with 15th-ranked Otterbein College on Tuesday morning in Ft. Myers, Fla. The Jeffs took game one, 4-2, but faltered in the second bout, 9-8, to move to 2-3 on the season. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to No. 30 Salisbury, 6-4
March 20 - The Amherst baseball team fell to No. 30 Salisbury University on Monday night in Ft. Myers, Fla. The Jeffs led 4-1 heading into the final frame, but surrendered five ninth-inning runs to fall to 1-2 on the year, while Salisbury improved to 18-2. Senior shortstop Zach Schonberger led the Jeffs, going 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Full Story

March 20 - Amherst first-year shortstop Angus Schaller was named the NESCAC Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after going 6-for-9 in his first two collegiate games over the weekend in Ft. Myers, Fla. Full Story

Jeffs Edged by St. Thomas, Best Benedictine to Open Season
March 19 - The Amherst baseball team suffered a narrow 10-9 extra-inning defeat to the University of St. Thomas on Saturday night, but rebounded on Sunday with a 12-6 win over Benedictine University in Ft. Myers, Fla. First-year shortstop Angus Schaller stormed on to the scene, smashing a three-run homer in his first collegiate at bat en route to a 6-for-9 offensive performance with two bombs, a double and seven RBIs. Jeffs Eye Third Straight NESCAC Title in 2006
February 23 - Amherst returns an amazing stock of talent to the diamond this spring, including four outstanding starters on the hill, and six of eight positional players from last year’s starting lineup. Seniors Joe Vladeck and Zach Schonberger highlight the list of returners as the Jeffs open their season with an 11-game stretch in Ft. Amherst's Donahue Enjoys Summer on the Cape
October 6 - It is not preposterous. But it is rare. Amherst junior pitcher Brian Donahue played in the Cape Cod Baseball League this past summer, and, to be more specific, he played quite well. Full Story
