Three Amherst Basketball Players Earn National Recognition
April 10 - With successful winter seasons under their belts, three members of the Amherst College basketball programs have once again been recognized on the national level. While Shaina Pollack earned Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention plaudits, Fletcher Walters and Andrew Olson have been selected to compete with the best college basketball players in the country later this month. March 26 - Amherst College senior Andrew Olson was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2008 National Player of the Year this afternoon on the heels of his final games for the Lord Jeffs. Olson was also named the the D3Hoops.com All-America First-Team again this season. Full Story

Men's Basketball Has Repeat Bid Denied with 90-68 Loss to Wash-U in National Championship
March 22 - The Amherst College men's basketball team had their repeat bid for a National Championship denied this afternoon with a 90-68 loss to Wash-U. in the title game. Amherst's season ends at 27-4, while the class of 2008 finishes their career with a 111-12 overall mark. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Rout Ursinus 84-58 with Olson Triple-Double; Will Play Washington in National Championship Tomorrow at 4 p.m.
March 21 - The defending-national champion Amherst College men's basketball team ran away with an 84-58 win over Ursinus College in the national semifinals this afternoon, riding a triple-double from senior Andrew Olson. NABC Selects Olson and Walters for All-Region Awards; Olson Named First Team All-American
March 20 - The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced the All-Region and All-American teams this afternoon, with Amherst seniors Fletcher Walters and Andrew Olson grabbing First-Team All-Northeast, and Olson being named a First-Team All-American. Full Story

March 19 - The Amherst College men’s basketball program was well-represented when D3hoops.com released its 2008 All-Region Team today. Senior Andrew Olson grabbed Northeast Player of the Year honors and joined classmate Fletcher Walters on the All-Northeast Region First Team. Full Story

Amherst Men's Basketball to Face Ursinus College in National Semifinals
March 17 - The 2007-08 Amherst College men's basketball team is headed back to Salem, Va. for the third consecutive season this weekend, and will face Ursinus College Friday in the National Semifinals. The Jeffs tip-off at 5 p.m. for a spot in the Championship Game. Full Story

Amherst Earns Trip to National Semifinals with 65-55 Win Over Brandeis
March 15 - The Amherst College men's basketball team held Brandeis University scoreless for a stretch of nine minutes in the midst of a 17-0 run in the second half of the NCAA Sectional Finals, as the Lord Jeffs earned a 65-55 victory to earn a trip to the national semifinals for the third straight year. Jeffs Headed to NCAA Sectional Finals with 85-77 Win Over Richard Stockton
March 14 - The Amherst College men’s basketball team jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the NCAA Tournament sectional semifinal round and held on for a 85-77 victory over Richard Stockton College at sectional host Plattsburgh State University. The Lord Jeffs improve to 25-3 on the season and will take on Brandeis University Saturday at 7 p.m. with a trip to the national semifinals on the line. Full Story

March 11 -  Five Amherst College winter teams are still going strong in their respective seasons and will be competing in NCAA tournaments and championships this weekend. Amherst Advances to NCAA Sectional Round with 96-74 Win Over John Jay
March 8 - The Amherst College men's basketball team shot 77 percent from the floor from the first half and took a 59-32 lead into the locker room, holding on for a 96-74 victory over John Jay College in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. March 7 - Although spring sports get underway this weekend, the Amherst College winter teams are still going strong in their respective postseasons. While the Lord Jeff men’s and women’s ice hockey teams will continue their runs at NESCAC titles this Saturday, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will begin their quests for national championships. March 5 - The New England Small College Athletic Conference has named two members of the Amherst College squad to its 2007-08 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team. Seniors Andrew Olson and Fletcher Walters were each named to the First Team, with Olson also grabbing his second consecutive Player of the Year honor. Full Story

 Amherst Drops Heartbreaker to Bowdoin in Semifinals, 65-64
March 1 - The Amherst College men's basketball team trailed fourth-seeded Bowdoin by as many as 14 points in the second half, but the Lord Jeffs were able to storm back to take a one-point lead late in the game. Olson Named Finalist For 2008 Josten's Trophy
February 27 - Amherst College senior captain Andrew Olson was named one of just ten finalists for the 2008 Josten's Trophy. The award is given annually to the best basketball in NCAA Division III. Full Story

February 16 - The Amherst College men's basketball team defeated Trinity College for the first time since the 2004-05 season, as the Lord Jeffs pulled away late in the game for a 69-58 victory. Amherst Teams Up with Project Coach to Help Community
February 13 - When a group of high school students from the Springfield, Massachusetts area came to Amherst College on Monday, Jan. 28, the Lord Jeff men’s basketball team was expected to share its knowledge of the game with aspiring coaches. February 9 - The Amherst College men's basketball team will once again finish the regular season at the top of the NESCAC standings, as the Lord Jeffs earned a 78-67 win at Wesleyan to improve to 8-0 in the conference and 21-2 overall. February 8 - For the second consecutive season, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has named senior captain Andrew Olson a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award. Olson is one of just two finalists from NCAA Division III for the award given annually to the best point guard in all of college basketball. Vote online for Olson by clicking on the logo to the left. Amherst Looks Dominant in 97-63 Victory Over Rhode Island
February 5 - The Amherst College men's basketball team put on quite a show for its fans Tuesday night, as the Lord Jeffs dominated Rhode Island College from the opening tip en route to a convincing 97-63 victory. Amherst, which improves to 19-2 overall, was led by a career-high 30 points from senior Brandon Jones. Full Story

Senior Fletcher Walters Grabs Second Player of the Week Award
February 4 - The NESCAC named senior forward Fletcher Walters the Men's Basketball Player of the Week this afternoon for the second time this season. Walters lifted the Lord Jeffs to wins over Colby and Bowdoin, grabbing his third career Player of the Week honor. Full Story

Amherst Takes Care of Bowdoin, 85-79, to Stay in Control of NESCAC
February 2 - The Amherst College men's basketball team shot 61.2 percent from the floor and had five players finish in double-figures, as the Lord Jeffs earned an 85-79 victory over Bowdoin College. Senior Fletcher Walters paced Amherst with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Full Story

February 1 - The Amherst College men's basketball team led Colby College by as many as 16 points, but the White Mules were able to storm back and take a lead late in the second half. Baskauskas Comes Through in the Clutch to Lift Jeffs to 77-76 Victory Over Bates
January 19 - The Amherst College men's basketball team trailed visiting Bates College by one point with five seconds remaining in regulation, but junior sharp-shooter Brian Baskauskas nailed a jumper to give the Lord Jeffs the lead and the win. January 18 - The third-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team won its NESCAC season-opener 79-68 over visiting Tufts University this evening. Brian Baskauskas paced the Lord Jeffs with 17 points. Full Story

Men's Basketball Edges Elms 73-67; Olson Scores 1,000th Point
January 15 - The third-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team held on for a 73-67 win over Elms College on the road this evening. Senior captain Andrew Olson scored his 1,000th career point in the win, becoming the 22nd player in program history to reach the milestone. Full Story

Fletcher Walters Named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week
January 14 - Amherst College senior Fletcher Walters has been named the NESCAC Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to a pair of Little Three victories. Walters averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to help his team earn wins over Wesleyan University and fourth-ranked Williams College. Full Story

Jeffs Hand Williams First Loss of Season, 87-80
January 12 - The third-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team handed fourth-ranked Williams College its first loss of the season, as the Lord Jeffs moved to 10-2 on the season with an 87-80 victory over their archrivals. December 27 - The fourth-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team dropped its second game of the season this evening at Florida Memorial University. The NAIA foe defeated Amherst 86-79 to drop the Lord Jeffs to 7-2. Full Story

Amherst Gets Back on Track with 73-66 Win at Lasell
December 12 - The Amherst College men's basketball team was tied with Lasell College at halftime, 31-31, but the Lord Jeffs were able to pull away and hold on for a 73-66 victory to get back on track. Amherst heads into winter break at 7-1 and will not return to action until Dec. 29. Full Story

December 8 - The Amherst College men's basketball team brought an 11-game winning streak to Brandeis University, but the third-ranked Judges were able to pull off a 72-62 upset in front of a rowdy home crowd. Lord Jeffs Win Ken Wright '52 Invitational with 99-54 Win Over Southern Vermont
November 17 - The Amherst College men's basketball team concluded the seventh annual Ken Wright '52 Memorial Invitational Tournament with a convincing 99-54 win over Southern Vermont College. Senior Brandon Jones was named the Tournament MVP. Full Story

November 16 - The second-ranked Amherst College men's basketball team opened the 2007-08 season with a 103-79 win over Hunter College. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to Honor National Champs at Amherst Day
October 24 - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today that the Hall will honor the Amherst College men's basketball team and its 2007 National Championship season on Amherst Day, Sunday Nov. 11. Head Coach David Hixon '75 and the team will be present for a presentation on Center Court at 1 p.m., and then the team will conduct a clinic and sign autographs immediately following. Full Story

Adolphe Coulibaly; A Different Road to the Final Four
September 27 - Lost in the celebration of last year’s National Championship and several national awards was perhaps the most heart-wrenching and inspirational story of the 2006-07 season. For many fans of Lord Jeff basketball, it may have been a case of “out of sight, out of mind,” but for the close-knit community surrounding the team, the harrowing story of a teammate was never far from thought.
