Three Amherst Basketball Players Earn National Recognition
April 10 - With successful winter seasons under their belts, three members of the Amherst College basketball programs have once again been recognized on the national level. While Shaina Pollack earned Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention plaudits, Fletcher Walters and Andrew Olson have been selected to compete with the best college basketball players in the country later this month. Reiff Named to D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team; Gromacki Earns Northeast Coach of the Year Honor
March 19 - The Amherst College women’s basketball program was well-represented when D3hoops.com released its 2008 All-Region Team today. Senior tri-captain Stefanie Reiff was named to the Third Team, while head coach GP Gromacki earned Northeast Coach of the Year honors in his first season with Amherst. Full Story

Amherst Ends Season with 68-63 Loss to DePauw in NCAA Sectional Semifinals
March 14 - The Amherst College women's basketball team hung with defending national champion DePauw University for all 40 minutes of the NCAA sectional semifinals, but the Lord Jeffs had their season come to a close with a 68-63 loss. Senior Shaina Pollack had a career-high 29 points for the Jeffs, who finish their incredible season with a 27-3 record. Full Story

March 11 - Five Amherst College winter teams are still going strong in their respective seasons and will be competing in NCAA tournaments and championships this weekend. The Amherst women's basketball team will take on defending national champion DePauw University. Full Story

Amherst Cruises Into Second Round of NCAA Tournament with 78-32 Victory
March 7 - The Amherst College women's basketball team picked up right where it left off, as the Lord Jeffs earned a 78-32 victory over Becker College in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Amherst will play Bowdoin College for the third time this season in Saturday's second-round game at 5 p.m., as the Polar Bears defeated host Bridgewater State, 64-49. Full Story

Amherst Winter Teams Set for Huge Weekend of Postseason Play
March 7 - Although spring sports get underway this weekend, the Amherst College winter teams are still going strong in their respective postseasons. While the Lord Jeff men’s and women’s ice hockey teams will continue their runs at NESCAC titles this Saturday, the men’s and women’s basketball teams will begin their quests for national championships. Reiff, Pollack Named to NESCAC All-Conference First Team
March 5 - Today the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2007-2008 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team. Two members of the Amherst College squad received honors, as seniors Shaina Pollack and Stefanie Reiff were each named to the First Team. Head Coach G.P. Gromacki was also named Co-Coach of the Year. Shaina Pollack Named NESCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
March 3 - Amherst College senior tri-captain Shaina Pollack was named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to the program’s first-ever conference title. Amherst defeated seven-time defending NESCAC champion Bowdoin College on Saturday before knocking off second-seeded Tufts University in Sunday’s finals.

Amherst Cruises Past Trinity; Jeffs Earn Top Seed in NESCAC
February 16 - The Amherst College women's basketball team needed a victory at Trinity College and a loss by Bowdoin College in order to earn the top seed in the NESCAC standings, and the Lord Jeffs got just that. Amherst earned a 77-51 win on the road and will host eighth-seeded Colby College in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament. Full Story

Amherst Defeats Wesleyan on Senior Day, 70-53
February 9 - The Amherst College women's basketball team earned a 70-53 victory over Wesleyan University, with four Lord Jeffs finishing in double figures. Seniors Stefanie Reiff, Shaina Pollack and Anne-Claire Roesch were honored before the game, and each finished with at least 10 points. Full Story

Jeffs Cruise Past Conn. College; Reiff Joins 1,000-Point Club
February 8 - The Amherst College women's basketball team earned a 73-45 victory over Conn. College to improve to 5-2 in NESCAC play and 20-2 overall. Senior tri-captain Stefanie Reiff scored 12 points to become the eighth player in program history to record at least 1,000 career points. Full Story

Amherst Can't Hold On Down the Stretch at Bowdoin, Jeffs Fall 72-61
February 2 - The Amherst College women's basketball team trailed Bowdoin College by just two points with 3:42 remaining in regulation, but the Polar Bears were able to pull away for an 11-point victory. The loss is just the second on the season for Amherst, who shot an uncharacterstic 38 percent from the floor. Full Story

February 1 - The 17th-ranked Amherst College women's basketball team had a trio of players score 15 or more points in a 71-44 road win at Colby College this evening. The Jeffs improve to 19-1 overall, and will face Bowdoin at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Full Story

Jeffs Get Back on Track with 64-42 Win Over Western New England
January 29 - The Amherst College women's basketball team rebounded from its lone loss of the season by earning a 64-42 victory over Western New England College. The Lord Jeffs did not have their best shooting performance, but their solid defense  helped them improve to 18-1 on the season. Full Story

January 26 - The 16th-ranked Amherst College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season this afternoon with a 64-59 defeat at Williams. Amherst drops to 17-1, and 3-1 in the NESCAC. Full Story

Jeffs Remain Perfect with 68-59 Victory Over Middlebury
January 25 - The Amherst College women's basketball team improved to 17-0 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play with a 68-59 victory over Middlebury College. The Lord Jeffs will put their perfect record on the line Saturday when they take on archrival Williams College at 2 p.m. Full Story

January 19 - The Amherst College women's basketball team improved to 16-0 overall and 2-0 in NESCAC play with a 78-69 win at Bates College. The Jeffs were led by 22 points from senior Stefanie Reiff and a career-high 17 points from senior Anne-Claire Roesch. Full Story

Jeffs Defeat Tufts, 64-62, on Another Swensen Buzzer-Beater
January 18 - The 22nd-ranked Amherst College women's basketball team stayed undefeated in their NESCAC season-opener this evening with a 64-62 win at Tufts. Sophomore Sam Swensen made another buzzer-beater to lift the 15-0 Jeffs to victory. Full Story

January 12 - The Amherst College women's basketball team earned a 65-53 victory over Williams College to improve to 13-0 on the season. The Jeffs, who defeated the Ephs for the first time since the 2000-01 season, set a new program record for longest winning streak. Full Story

Amherst Cruises to 93-43 Victory Over Southern Vermont
January 8 - The Amherst College women's basketball team picked up a 93-43 win over visiting Southern Vermont College to improve to 12-0 on the season. Swensen's Buzzer-Beater Lifts Amherst Over Endicott, 72-70
January 4 - The Amherst College women's basketball team capped off its trip to Florida with a thrilling 72-70 victory over Endicott College. Sophomore Sam Swensen played the role of hero for the Jeffs, as she nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to improve her team to 11-0 on the season. Full Story

December 5 - The Amherst College women's basketball team improved to a perfect 7-0 with a 78-54 victory at Clark University. The Lord Jeffs were led by sophomore Samantha Swensen, who scored a career-high 25 points in the win. Full Story

December 3 - Amherst College sophomore Samantha Swensen has been named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to three victories to keep the team’s perfect season alive. Swensen is the first member of her team to earn the honor this season. Full Story

December 1 - The Amherst College women's basketball team kicked off day two of the sixth annual Pioneer Valley Classic with an 80-70 victory over Springfield College. November 20 - The Amherst College women's basketball team cruised to an 80-40 win at Mt. Holyoke College this evening to improve to 3-0 on the season. Amherst picked up its third consecutive win by at least 40 points. Full Story

Jeffs Look Strong in 105-34 Victory Over NYCCT
November 18 - The Amherst College women's basketball team cruised to a 105-34 win over New York City College of Technology to take home the 2007 Amherst Invitational Tournament championship. Each of Amherst's 13 players scored at least four points in the win, as the Jeffs played a very well-balanced game. Full Story
