Jack Arena '83 enters his 13th year as the head coach of the Amherst men's golf team and his 25th season at the helm of the Amherst men's hockey team, where he's posted 14 winning seasons with eight ECAC Tournament appearances to his credit. His 1991-92 and 1995-96 hockey teams captured the ECAC Championship for just the second and third times in school history, while the 1998-99 season brought a first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Arena was voted the ECAC East and New England Hockey Writers Association Coach of the Year in 1996 and was a standout hockey player at Amherst before graduating in 1983. He is the Jeffs' fourth all-time leading scorer, capping an outstanding playing career by being selected the Hoby Baker Award winner as the most outstanding Division III collegiate player in the country.
Assistant coach E.J. Mills has been instrumental in the recent success of the men's golf team, joining the staff each spring after football season. As head coach of the Amherst football team, Mills has made his mark as one of the top coaches and defensive minds in the NESCAC and all of NCAA Division III, leading the Jeffs to a 57-23 record in 10 seasons, including 7-1 marks in 1997, 2001 and 2002.
