May 18 - Amherst College senior Alicia Menezes and sophomore Brittany Berckes rolled through the national semifinals and championship this afternoon en route to a second consecutive Doubles National Championship. The women's tennis players repeated on the program's first doubles title from last season, with a 6-4, 6-3 title match win. Full Story

Berckes, Menezes Advance to NCAA Doubles Semifinal Match
May 17 - Sophomore Brittany Berckes and senior Alicia Menezes continued to represent Amherst College at the 2008 NCAA Women’s Tennis Individual Championships in national quarterfinal action on Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus College. After falling in three sets in singles action, Berckes teamed up with Menezes for a victory in doubles play to advance to Sunday’s semifinal round. Full Story

May 16 - The Division III NCAA Individuals Tennis Tournament got underway today, with a trio of Amherst College Lord Jeffs participating in two different locations. Senior Alicia Menezes and sophomore Brittany Berckes started play on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus, while junior Zack Lerner was competing at Bates College. Full Story 

NCAA Individual Tennis Championships Set to Kick Off Friday
May 15 - The NCAA Individual Tennis Championships begin Friday, May 16 and conclude Sunday, May 18, with three members of the Amherst College tennis programs taking part in the weekend’s national tournaments. Alicia Menezes Named ITA Northeast Senior Player of the Year
May 12 - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has named Amherst College captain Alicia Menezes the Northeast Senior Player of the Year for 2008 for her terrific career as a Lord Jeff. During her career, Amherst amassed an amazing 58-13 record in dual matches, and never lost more than four times in a season. Full Story

May 4 - For the first time since 1997, the Amherst College women's tennis team will not be heading to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship, as the Lord Jeffs dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 match to Bowdoin College in the third round of the national tournament. Amherst Earns 5-0 Win Over Skidmore in NCAA Second Round
May 3 - The Amherst College women's tennis team earned a 5-0 win over Skidmore College in the NCAA Championship Second Round after Saturday's matches were moved indoors to Mount Holyoke College. Brittany Berckes Named NESCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year
April 30 - Amherst College sophomore Brittany Berckes has been selected by the conference coaches as the 2008 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, and is one of four Lord Jeff men’s and women’s tennis players to receive All-Conference recognition this year. Berckes will by competing in the NCAA singles and doubles championship tournaments in May after the team championships conclude. Full Story

Spring Teams Head into Busy Weekend of Championship Action
April 29 - This Saturday, the Amherst College women's tennis team will begin its march toward a second national title, while the women's lacrosse team will look to advance to the NESCAC Championship finals for the first time since 2005. Sunday's baseball matchup between Williams and Amherst has significant playoff implications, while the outdoor track and field teams will continue their preparation for nationals by competing at the Division III New England Championships. April 27 - For the third straight season, the Amherst College women's tennis team defeated Williams College to claim the NESCAC Championship title, as the Lord Jeffs pulled out a 5-4 win to avenge a loss to the Ephs from earlier in the spring. September 30 - The Amherst College women’s tennis team continued its successful fall season with an impressive showing at the Hofstra University Invitational this weekend. The eight Lord Jeff singles players went a combined 21-3 and lost a combined seven sets in the two-day event, while the four Amherst doubles pairs finished at a perfect 12-0. Full Story
