USA Bid Committee Names David Downs '77 Executive Director
Feb. 5 - U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati announced Monday afternoon that the U.S. Soccer Federation has officially submitted a declaration of interest to host either the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, and that David Downs ’77 will be the Executive Director of the USA Bid Committee. Full Story

Justin Serpone Among Finalists for National Coach of the Year
Jan. 13 - The 11 finalists for NSCAA/adidas National Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year have been announced, with Amherst College’s Justin Serpone among the 11 coaches eligible for the prestigious honor. Serpone was an automatic selection to the final ballot for leading the Lord Jeffs to the national tournament semifinals. Full Story

Dec. 25 - The Amherst College men’s soccer team will receive national television exposure when it is featured in the 2008 NCAA Fall Championship Show, set to air Saturday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. (EST) on CBS Sports. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Receive NSCAA Regional and National Awards; Team Has Highest GPA in Nation
Dec. 15 - Amherst seniors Grayson Holland, Jake Duker and Nick Lynch each received season-end awards from the NSCAA this week, while the Lord Jeffs were recognized as a team for having the highest grade-point-average across all divisions this season (3.48). Full Story

Amherst Falls to Stevens in National Semifinals, 4-1
Dec. 5 - The Amherst College men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Stevens Institute of Technology Friday afternoon in Greensboro, N.C., to end its impressive season at 15-4-3 as the second team in program history to reach the Final Four. Full Story

Amherst Headed to Final Four; Amherst Knocks Off Trinity, 1-0
Nov. 23 - Thanks to a goal from senior Jake Duker in the 87th minute of regulation against top-ranked Trinity University (TX), the Amherst College men's soccer team is headed to the NCAA Final Four for just the second time in program history. The Lord Jeffs will take on Stevens Institute in the national semifinals in North Carolina. Full Story

Amherst Earns Spot in Sectional Final for First Time Since 1997
Nov. 22 - The Amherst College men's soccer team scored with 20 seconds remaining in the first half at Swarthmore College this evening, and the 1-0 margin held up in the NCAA Round of 16. Amherst advances to the national quarterfinals for only the second time in program history and will face top-ranked Trinity (TX) College Sunday at 6 p.m. with a spot in the Final Four on the line. Jake Duker's Score Lifts Men's Soccer Past St. Lawrence 1-0 in NCAA Second Round
Nov. 16 - Amherst College senior quad-captain Jake Duker scored the game's lone goal in the second half to lift the men's soccer team over St. Lawrence University this afternoon in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Amherst will face the winner of Swarthmore and Dickinson next weekend in the Round of 16. Full Story

Amherst Advances to NCAA Second Round on Penalty Kicks
Nov. 15 - With the Amherst College and Western New England men's soccer teams tied at 0-0 after regulation and two overtime sessions, first-year goalkeeper Lennard Kovacs made a pair of saves in the penalty kick session to lead the Jeffs in advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Three Jeffs Earn Men's Soccer All-NESCAC Honors
Nov. 13 - The NESCAC announced today the members of its 2008 Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team, with three Amherst College student-athletes earning a postseason honor. Seniors Jake Duker and Grayson Holland were each selected to the First Team, while junior G.L. Genco grabbed a Second Team nod. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Prepare for NCAA Tournament
Nov. 12 - With winter seasons just around the corner, a handful of Amherst's fall teams are entering NCAA Tournament competition on Saturday. The men's soccer team will host Western New England, while the women's soccer team will head to Springfield to face Farmingdale State (NY). Full Story

Amherst's Duker Named NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week Once Again
Nov. 10 - Amherst College senior forward Jake Duker was named the final NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week this afternoon, marking his second award of the season and third of his career. Duker had a hand in both of Amherst's goals in a 2-0 win over Middlebury for the NESCAC title yesterday, and has a solid case for Player of the Year. Full Story

Amherst Draws WNEC in NCAA First Round; Will Host First Two Rounds
Nov. 10 - The NCAA released the bracket for the upcoming NCAA Tournament this morning, naming the Amherst College men's team as a host site for the First and Second Rounds. The Lord Jeffs will take on WNEC on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with M.I.T. and St. Lawrence playing in the other game at 11 a.m. Amherst. Amherst Wins Program's First NESCAC Title

Nov. 9 - The Amherst College men's soccer team shut out top-seeded Middlebury College in the NESCAC Championship finals, 2-0, to claim the program's first ever conference title. The Lord Jeffs improve to 12-3-2 and earn an automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Full Story

Oct. 30 - Members of the 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team were announced this morning, with Amherst senior quad-captain Jake Duker earning a spot on the Second Team. Full Story

Amherst Surrenders Late Goal in 1-1 Tie with RIC
Oct. 28 - The Amherst College men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead over Rhode Island College early in the second half, but the Anchormen scored the tying goal with just 7:13 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Neither team managed to score in the extra time, as Amherst moved to 8-3-2 with the tie. Full Story

Jeffs Pick up Big Win Over Williams, 2-1
Oct. 25 - The Amherst College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over archrival Williams College to improve to 8-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the NESCAC. The Jeffs are now unbeaten in their last four games. Full Story

Oct. 18 - The Amherst College men's soccer team ended in a 1-1 tie at Wesleyan University after 90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods. The Lord Jeffs move to 7-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the NESCAC. Full Story

Oct. 14 - The Amherst College men’s soccer team scored early and often against visiting Elms College, improving to 7-3-0 on the season with a 7-0 non-conference victory at Gooding Field. Full Story

Amherst Picks up 5-2 Win Over Colby
Oct. 11 - The Amherst College men's soccer team got back to the .500 mark in the NESCAC standings with a 5-2 win over visiting Colby College. The Lord Jeffs move to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference and will wrap up a five-game home stand Tuesday, Oct. 14 against Elms College. Full Story

Oct. 8 - The Amherst College men's soccer team dropped a stunning defeat at home this evening, 1-0 to NESCAC rival Conn College. Amherst falls to 5-3 with the loss, and just 2-3 in in what is shaping up to a be a very tough  conference. Full Story

Oct. 6 - Amherst College first-year goalkeeper Lennard Kovacs has been named the NESCAC Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to a pair of shutout victories last week. Full Story

Heo's Hat Trick Leads Jeffs to 3-0 Win Over Tufts
Oct. 4 - The Amherst College men's soccer team used a hat trick from first-year Jae Heo and a pair of assists from sophomore Thebe Tsatsimpe to earn a 3-0 victory over Tufts University. The Lord Jeffs improve to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the NESCAC. Full Story

Sept. 30 - Senior tri-captain Jake Duker scored the game's lone goal with 4:43 remaining in overtime to the lead the Amherst men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Springfield College. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Fall to Bowdoin, 4-2, in Conference Play
Sept. 27 - The Amherst College men's soccer team dropped just its third conference game in the last two seasons this afternoon, falling to Bowdoin College 4-2 on the road. Amherst sits at 3-2 overall, and 1-2 in NESCAC action. Full Story

Sept. 22 - Amherst College nearly took a clean sweep of this week’s NESCAC Player of the Week honors, as men’s soccer senior tri-captain Jake Duker, women’s cross country senior quad-captain Elise Tropiano and volleyball first-year Katherine Kanoff each garnered recognition for contributing to a successful week of Amherst athletics. Sept. 13 - The 11th-ranked Amherst College men's soccer team fell to No. 1 Middlebury College 1-0 this afternoon on the road. In a rematch of the 2007 NESCAC Championship, the Panthers scored in the 8th minute and held on for the win. Full Story

Amherst Earns Convincing 6-0 Win at Anna Maria
Sept. 7 - Seniors Jake Duker and Nick Lynch shined in the Amherst College men's soccer team's season opener, as the Lord Jeffs cruised to a 6-0 victory at Anna Maria College. Duker scored two goals and Lynch had three assists for the Jeffs, who carried a 5-0 lead into halftime. Full Story
