2008 Volleyball Milestones


  • Finished with a 22-8 overall record to mark the third consecutive 20-win season
  • Posted an 8-2 record in NESCAC matches to earn the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament
  • Defeated No. 6 Connecticut College in the NESCAC Championship first round, 3-2
  • Upset No. 2 Wesleyan in the NESCAC Championship semifinals, 3-1
  • Advanced to the NESCAC Championships finals for a third straight year, ultimately falling to No. 4 Williams, 3-1
  • Defeated archrival Williams in back-to-back regular season matches for the first time since 1999
  • Led the NESCAC in blocks per set (2.03) and finished third in hitting percentage (.230)


Head Coach Sue Everden (519-210)

  • Became the 22nd Division III coach and the first NESCAC coach to reach 500 career wins
  • Improved her career record to 519-210 (.712)

Senior Outside Hitter Alison Munzer

  • Finished career with 365 kills (1.61 per set) and 90 blocks (0.4 per set)

Senior Setter Sara Heller

  • Finished fifth in the NESCAC in assists per set (9.10) and 19th in digs (2.90)
  • Finished career with 4,440 assists (10.6 per set), 972 digs (2.33 per set), 227 blocks (0.54 per set), 252 kills and 146 service aces

Senior Weakside Hitter Claire Holton-Basaldua

  • Finished 10th in the NESCAC in hitting percentage (.258)
  • Finished career with 485 kills (1.66 per set), 155 digs and 151 blocks (0.52 per set)

Senior Middle Hitter Hannah Wirth

  • Named to All-Tournament Team at Roger Williams Invitational
  • Finished 15th in the NESCAC in hitting percentage (.249)
  • Finished career with 517 kills (1.49 per set), 244 blocks (0.71 per set) and a .234 hitting percentage

Sophomore Middle Hitter Laura Hyman

  • Led the NESCAC in hitting percentage (.396) and finished third in blocks per set (0.85)

Sophomore Libero Rachel Yorke

  • Named to AVCA All-New England Region Team
  • Named to All-NESCAC Second Team
  • Named Tournament MVP at the Roger Williams Invitational
  • Named to Gold Bracket All-Tournament Team at the Hall of Fame Classic
  • Finished second in the NESCAC in digs per set (5.08)
  • Had a career-high 42 digs against Tufts Oct. 25
  • Averaged 8.1 digs per set in day two of the Hall of Fame Classic
  • Averaged 6.5 digs per set during the NESCAC Championship weekend

First-year Outside Hitter Cristy Meier

  • Finished fifth in the NESCAC in kills per set (3.16) and seventh in hitting percentage (.279)
  • Led Amherst in kills per set (3.16)

First-year Outside Hitter Katherine Kanoff

  • Named NESCAC Player of the Week Sept. 22 for her performances against Bates, Bowdoin and Colby
  • Finished third in the NESCAC in service aces per set (0.60), 13th in kills (2.50) and 16th in digs (2.98)
