Fred Argir '10 Named to All-America Team

Dec. 22 - Amherst College’s Fred Argir ’10 was named to the All-America Second Team this past weekend for leading the Lord Jeffs to an 8-0 record as a standout defensive back. Full Story

Amherst Standouts Honored by ECAC,

Dec. 17 - The ECAC has announced its Division III Football All-Stars, with Amherst placing four on the Northeast Team to lead all schools in the region. has also announced its 2009 All-Region Teams, with Amherst earning a pair of First Team selections and the Coach of the Year honor. Full Story

Mills Named Gridiron Club of Greater Boston DII/III New England Coach of the Year
Dec. 8 - Amherst College football head coach E.J. Mills has been named the Division II/III New England Head Coach of the Year, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston announced today. This is the first time Mills has been awarded the organization's top coaching honor. Full Story

E.J. Mills Named AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year

Dec. 2 - E.J. Mills has been named the American Football Coaches Association DIII Region 1 Coach of the Year, the AFCA announced today. Mills is now eligible for the Association’s National Coach of the Year award. Full Story

NESCAC All-Academic, All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

Nov. 20 - The NESCAC announced the members of its Fall All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship Teams, with 42 Amherst student-athletes earning All-Academic honors for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.35. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Rake in Postseason Honors

Nov. 20 - After earning seven spots on the Football All-NESCAC Teams, which were announced earlier this week by the conference, Amherst landed three players on the New England Football Writer's All-Region Team. Mike Taylor and E.J. Mills were named Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. Full Story

Amherst Achieves Perfection with 26-21 Win Over Williams
Nov. 14 - The Amherst College football team has completed the third 8-0 season in program history! With a 26-21 win over Williams College this afternoon, the Lord Jeffs are NESCAC and Little Three Champions. The win also marked Amherst’s sixth perfect—and eighth unbeaten—season, with the last coming in 1984. Full Story

Nov. 4 - The Amherst football team can secure at least a share of the NESCAC title with a win over Trinity this Saturday. The last time the Jeffs won the conference crown was in 2000 when they shared it with Colby and Middlebury. Full Story

Oct. 31 - The Amherst College football team earned a 13-3 win at Tufts University to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 2001. With Trinity suffering a 31-24 loss to Middlebury today, the Lord Jeffs sit all alone at the top of the NESCAC standings with only two games to play. Full Story

Oct. 18 - Amherst College junior linebacker Jeff Katz was named the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week this afternoon for his play in a 23-13 win over Colby yesterday. This marks the third consecutive week that an Amherst defender has earned the weekly honor. Full Story

Oct. 17 - The Amherst College football team is the first in the NESCAC to reach the 4-0 mark after topping Colby College 23-13 this afternoon. Amherst scored 14 points off of turnovers and also had a safety in the win. Full Story

Oct. 15 - The Amherst College football team will look to keep pace with unbeaten Trinity College when the Lord Jeffs travel to take on Colby College Saturday at 1 p.m. The Jeffs have not lost to the Mules since 1995. Full Story

Sept. 26 - The Amherst College football team won its 2009 season opener at Hamilton College this afternoon, topping the Continentals 21-12. Amherst has won nine straight in this rivalry, while head coach EJ Mills has never lost to Hamilton. Full Story
