2009 Women's Soccer Milestones

TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

-          Ranked No. 19 in final NSCAA National Poll

-          Finished with a 13-4-1 overall record

-          Posted an 8-2-0 record at home

-          Went 7-1-1 in NESCAC play to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament

-          Defeated No. 7 seed Wesleyan 2-0 in NESCAC Quarterfinals

-          Fell to No. 3 seed Middlebury 1-0 in NESCAC Semifinals

-          Defeated Eastern Conn State University 3-0 in NCAA Tournament First Round

-          Fell to eventual National Semifinalist The College of New Jersey 4-0 in NCAA Tournament Second Round

-          Went on an 8-game unbeaten streak from October 10 to November 7, 2009

-          Finished the season ranked third in the NESCAC goals-per-game (2.11), fifth in assists-per-game (1.33), third in goals-against average (0.77), third in shutouts (9), and first in corners-per-game (5.56).

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Senior Forward Meg Murphy

-          Helped Amherst to 47-15-10 record during four seasons with the Lord Jeffs

-          Named NESCAC Player of the Week for period ending Nov. 1, 2009

-          Named All-NESCAC First Team for fourth straight season

-          Earned a spot in NEWISA Senior Bowl

-          Named NEWISA All-New England First Team

-          Named NSCAA All-New England for fourth straight season

-          Named NSCAA All-America Second Team for second straight season

-          Finished the season 9th in the NESCAC in points (16), 4th in assists (6), and tied for 4th in game-winning goals (3).

Senior Defender Kathy Nolan

-          Helped Amherst to 47-15-10 record during four seasons with the Lord Jeffs

-          Named to NESCAC All-Academic Team for second straight season

Senior Goalkeeper Lili Ferguson

-          Helped Amherst to 47-15-10 record during four seasons with the Lord Jeffs

-          Named to NESCAC All-Academic Team for second straight season

-          Named to NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team

Senior Forward Cami Farkas

-          Helped Amherst to 47-15-10 record during four seasons with the Lord Jeffs

Junior Forward Jackie Hirsch

-          Tied for the team lead with six goals during the season, including three game-winners

-          Finished the season 11th in the NESCAC in points (15), 10th in goals (6), and tied for 4th in game-winning goals (3).

Sophomore Defender Jill Kochanek

-          Named NESCAC Player of the Week for period ending Oct. 11, 2009

-          Named NSCAA All-New England for first time in career

Sophomore Goalkeeper Allie Horwitz

-          Finished the season ranked 3rd in the NESCAC in goals-against-average (0.67), 2nd in save percentage (.884), and 4th in shutouts (6).

First-year Forward Emily Little

-          Finished the season tied for 14th in the NESCAC in goals (6), and tied for 4th in game-winning goals (3).

First-year Midfielder Hannah Cooper

-          Tied for the team lead with six goals during the season, including one game-winner.

First-year Midfielder Kathryn Nathan

-          Finished the season tied for 14th in the NESCAC in goals (5).
